The bookshelf, 3 tiers: 7 ways to order it, from $29.99 to $54.90, each on its own row below, so you can read the price of the exact colour or size you want before you press anything. The rows of the bookshelf differ by size, 3 tiers, 4 tiers and 5 tiers, and by finish, black, natural wood, rustic brown and brown. One of 107 living room pieces, the bookshelf at $29.99 carries the commission's anchoring note below where it has shelves or drawers, and the strap is yours to fit. 17 other bookshelves in DUMOS essentials are one click from the bookshelf, so you can set them side by side before you decide.
Before a shelf goes against the wall
A dresser, a bookshelf, a TV stand or a cabinet is the furniture that tips, and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission runs a whole campaign, Anchor It!, on that one point: anchor all furniture with drawers, doors and shelves, and every TV, to the wall. The commission's five steps take a few minutes with the kit, a drill and a stud finder: fix a bracket to the wall, push the piece back against it, fix a bracket to the piece, run the strap between them, and tighten until a tug moves nothing. Under the STURDY Act, a dresser 27 inches or taller made after 1 September 2023 must pass federal stability tests and ship with an anti-tip device, and our fabric dressers of that height do ship with one; the strap only works once it is on the wall. A drawer left open for a climbing child is how most of these accidents start, and the commission's words are that they happen in the blink of an eye.
Every sentence in this note about safety comes from a named public source. All of them, with the date we read them, are on our updates page.
