Bookshelves from three to seven tiers, TV stands to 75 inches, lift-top coffee tables, end tables, storage ottomans, file cabinets, hall trees, shoe racks, bathroom cabinets and mirrors.

This is the largest room in the catalogue because it holds everything that stands against a wall after the big pieces are in. The bookshelves are named by their tiers, three to seven, with a tree shelf and a rotating tower for a corner; the TV stands are named by the screen they carry, 55 to 60 inches or 65 and up, with LED strips and a power station on some; the coffee tables lift their top to laptop height. Every one prints its width, and the ones with drawers, doors or shelves are the ones the commission says to anchor.

The second half of the shelf is storage that moves. File cabinets with two to seven drawers on lockable wheels roll under a desk; folding storage ottomans at 30 and 43 inches open for blankets and close for feet; the hall tree hangs coats over a shoe bench. The mirrors stand on their own: arched full-length mirrors with LED rings, round wall mirrors for over a sink, and LED bathroom mirrors from 20 to 36 inches. Each card prints the glass size, and a full-length mirror on a stand is one more piece to anchor if a child is in the house.

Before a shelf or a TV stand goes against the wall

A dresser, a bookshelf, a TV stand or a cabinet is the furniture that tips, and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission runs a whole campaign, Anchor It!, on that one point: anchor all furniture with drawers, doors and shelves, and every TV, to the wall. The commission's five steps take a few minutes with the kit, a drill and a stud finder: fix a bracket to the wall, push the piece back against it, fix a bracket to the piece, run the strap between them, and tighten until a tug moves nothing. Under the STURDY Act, a dresser 27 inches or taller made after 1 September 2023 must pass federal stability tests and ship with an anti-tip device, and our fabric dressers of that height do ship with one; the strap only works once it is on the wall. A drawer left open for a climbing child is how most of these accidents start, and the commission's words are that they happen in the blink of an eye.

The three things people ask us about living room and storage before they choose a piece.

How much do DUMOS bookshelves hold per tier?

We state a per-shelf capacity on most of them and the card prints it, 30 to 80 lb a tier on the open shelves and the rotating tower; a row of hardbacks a foot long weighs about 20. The five and seven-tier shelves are also on the commission's list of furniture with shelves to anchor, and the taller ones ship with a strap.

What size TV goes on a DUMOS TV stand?

The stands are named by the screen they carry: the 55-to-60-inch stand is 53 inches wide, and the stands for 65-inch and larger screens run 58 to 63 inches. A TV should stand on a console at least as wide as itself, and the commission says to anchor the TV as well as the stand.

Do DUMOS file cabinets fit under your desk?

The mobile cabinets with two and three drawers stand 26 to 28 inches tall on lockable casters, which fits under a desk top of 29 to 30 inches; the five-drawer stands 25 inches, and the seven-drawer rolls beside a desk. The drawer size is on each page, and the reviews say which ones take letter and legal folders.
