The fabric dresser is the piece this room is known for: non-woven bins on a steel frame under a wood top, six to ten drawers, half the weight of a wood dresser and a third of the price. It is also the piece federal rules say must ship with an anti-tip device once it stands 27 inches or taller, and ours do. The strap works when it is screwed to the wall, and the Consumer Product Safety Commission's five steps for doing that are on this page. The nightstands add the outlet and the USB port at the bed, and the vanity desks add a mirror ringed with bulbs.

The bed frames are sorted by what stands under the mattress: a 14-inch metal platform with room for boxes underneath, a solid wood platform with slats, an adjustable base that raises the head, a house frame with a roof for a child, and a twin-over-twin bunk bed with both guardrails. Sizes run twin to California king, and the toppers, 1.5 to 3 inches of gel memory foam, come in the same sizes. Read the mattress you own against the frame height and, on a bunk bed, against the 5-inch rail rule before you choose.

Before a dresser goes against the wall

A dresser, a bookshelf, a TV stand or a cabinet is the furniture that tips, and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission runs a whole campaign, Anchor It!, on that one point: anchor all furniture with drawers, doors and shelves, and every TV, to the wall. The commission's five steps take a few minutes with the kit, a drill and a stud finder: fix a bracket to the wall, push the piece back against it, fix a bracket to the piece, run the strap between them, and tighten until a tug moves nothing. Under the STURDY Act, a dresser 27 inches or taller made after 1 September 2023 must pass federal stability tests and ship with an anti-tip device, and our fabric dressers of that height do ship with one; the strap only works once it is on the wall. A drawer left open for a climbing child is how most of these accidents start, and the commission's words are that they happen in the blink of an eye.

Are DUMOS fabric dressers safe for a child's room?

Once they are anchored. A dresser 27 inches or taller made after September 2023 must pass federal stability tests and ship with an anti-tip device, and ours do; the Consumer Product Safety Commission still says to anchor every piece with drawers to the wall, because a child climbing an open drawer is how tip-overs start. The strap, a stud finder and five minutes do it, and the steps are on this page.

Which DUMOS bed frame needs no box spring?

The platform frames, metal and solid wood alike: the mattress rests on slats or a steel grid and the height on the card is the frame alone. Add the mattress you own to it to know where you will sleep, and read the under-bed clearance, 11.9 to 18 inches depending on the frame, against the boxes you mean to slide there.

How thick can the mattress be on a DUMOS bunk bed?

Thin enough to leave the top of the guardrail at least 5 inches above the top of the mattress, which is the federal rule, and the frame prints the maximum on its page. A thicker mattress eats the margin the rail exists for. The commission also classes children's bunk beds as beds for age 12 and under and has long advised that a child under six sleeps on the bottom.
