The rows of the executive office chair differ by finish only: gray and black, the same piece under each. The card prints a capacity of 300 lb for the executive office chair, a figure you can set your own weight against rather than a guess. The executive office chair shares the office room with 35 other chairs; what OSHA means by an ergonomic chair is printed below, and you can read this one at $69.97 against it. 2 other executive and leather chairs in the DUMOS lineup are one click from the executive office chair, so you can set them side by side before you decide.

What ergonomic means, in OSHA's words

The word ergonomic on a chair is a promise about your body, so here is what the Occupational Safety and Health Administration means by it in its computer workstation guidance. A backrest that follows the natural curve of your spine and supports the lower back; a seat that lets your feet rest flat on the floor or a footrest; armrests, if the chair has them, that let your shoulders relax with your elbows close to your body; and a base with five legs on casters. The desk puts the monitor straight in front of you at least 20 inches away, with nothing stored under it where your legs go. OSHA adds the sentence that matters most: sitting still for a long time is not healthy however good the posture, and the cure is to change position, stand and walk during the day. A chair with lumbar support and a desk that rises are tools for that; neither is a treatment for a back that already hurts, which is a question for a doctor.

Every sentence in this note about safety comes from a named public source. All of them, with the date we read them, are on our updates page.
