A gaming desk is a computer desk that has thought about the cables. The LED strip under the front edge is the part you see in the photograph; the part you use is the power strip or the USB ports built into the top, so the controller, the phone and the headset charge without a socket under the desk. The 40, 47 and 52-inch desks are straight tops on a steel frame with a cup holder and a headphone hook on the side; the corner gaming desk turns the same idea ninety degrees.

Width is still the decision. A 47-inch top holds two monitors; 40 holds one and a laptop; 52 holds two with a speaker each side. Read it against the wall from trim to trim, and read the depth against OSHA's 20 inches from eye to monitor. The desks with drawers keep the desk clear for the mouse, and the reviews that mention the LED strip mention that it runs from a USB port and has a switch.

What a desk has to do, in OSHA's words

The word ergonomic on a chair is a promise about your body, so here is what the Occupational Safety and Health Administration means by it in its computer workstation guidance. A backrest that follows the natural curve of your spine and supports the lower back; a seat that lets your feet rest flat on the floor or a footrest; armrests, if the chair has them, that let your shoulders relax with your elbows close to your body; and a base with five legs on casters. The desk puts the monitor straight in front of you at least 20 inches away, with nothing stored under it where your legs go. OSHA adds the sentence that matters most: sitting still for a long time is not healthy however good the posture, and the cure is to change position, stand and walk during the day. A chair with lumbar support and a desk that rises are tools for that; neither is a treatment for a back that already hurts, which is a question for a doctor.
