A corner holds a desk still in a way a wall cannot, and it gives you two surfaces at right angles: a long arm for the screens and a short return for the printer, the notebook or the second person. The desks on this page are sorted by the long arm, 39 inches for a corner of a bedroom up to 67 for the two gaming desks, and the return length is on each card. Measure both walls from the corner outward before you read them; the return is the number people forget, and it is the one that hits the closet door.

What the arms carry differs from desk to desk. The reversible 50-inch desk puts its CPU shelf on the left or the right at assembly; the desks with drawers keep the pens off the top; the corner gaming desks add a power strip and an LED strip under the edge; the 67-inch gaming desks add a monitor shelf. OSHA's two desk rules apply to all of them: the monitor straight in front of you at least 20 inches away, and nothing stored under the top where your legs go, CPU shelf included if your knees say so.

What a desk has to do, in OSHA's words

The word ergonomic on a chair is a promise about your body, so here is what the Occupational Safety and Health Administration means by it in its computer workstation guidance. A backrest that follows the natural curve of your spine and supports the lower back; a seat that lets your feet rest flat on the floor or a footrest; armrests, if the chair has them, that let your shoulders relax with your elbows close to your body; and a base with five legs on casters. The desk puts the monitor straight in front of you at least 20 inches away, with nothing stored under it where your legs go. OSHA adds the sentence that matters most: sitting still for a long time is not healthy however good the posture, and the cure is to change position, stand and walk during the day. A chair with lumbar support and a desk that rises are tools for that; neither is a treatment for a back that already hurts, which is a question for a doctor.

Every sentence in this note about safety comes from a named public source. All of them, with the date we read them, are on our updates page.

DUMOS L Shaped Desk: questions

What people ask us about l shaped desk before they pick a piece.

Can you flip a DUMOS L shaped desk to put the return on the other side?

The 50-inch reversible desk and most of the corner desks assemble either way, and the page for each says so. The desks with a fixed drawer unit are one-handed, and the card says which hand.

How much space does a DUMOS L shaped desk need in the corner?

The long arm plus two inches on one wall, the return plus two inches on the other, and a chair-width of floor in the angle between them; both arm lengths are on the card. A 67-inch gaming desk with a 47-inch return needs a corner with nothing on either wall for those lengths.
