A topper is bought by its thickness, and the thickness is a decision about what is wrong with the mattress underneath. An inch and a half of gel memory foam softens a mattress that is too firm and changes nothing else; two inches adds give at the shoulder and the hip for a side sleeper; three inches is a new sleeping surface that hides a mattress with a shallow dip, and the dual-layer 3-inch topper puts a softer foam over a firmer one for that job. The gel in every one is there to move heat away from the sleeper, and the foam is ventilated with holes for the same reason.
Sizes run twin, twin XL, full, queen, king and California king, and the topper should match the mattress exactly: a queen topper on a full mattress hangs over the edge and slides. A topper does not fix a mattress that has gone soft in the middle, and the reviews that say so are quoted on this site rather than left out.

A dresser, a bookshelf, a TV stand or a cabinet is the furniture that tips, and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission runs a whole campaign, Anchor It!, on that one point: anchor all furniture with drawers, doors and shelves, and every TV, to the wall. The commission's five steps take a few minutes with the kit, a drill and a stud finder: fix a bracket to the wall, push the piece back against it, fix a bracket to the piece, run the strap between them, and tighten until a tug moves nothing. Under the STURDY Act, a dresser 27 inches or taller made after 1 September 2023 must pass federal stability tests and ship with an anti-tip device, and our fabric dressers of that height do ship with one; the strap only works once it is on the wall. A drawer left open for a climbing child is how most of these accidents start, and the commission's words are that they happen in the blink of an eye.

How thick a DUMOS mattress topper should you buy?
An inch and a half if the mattress is merely too firm, two inches if you sleep on your side and wake with a shoulder, three inches if the mattress has a shallow dip you want to hide. Three inches changes the feel of the bed; the thinner two change only the surface.
Does the DUMOS gel topper sleep cool?
