The nightstand on this page has a plug in it. Most of them carry a built-in charging station with two AC outlets, a USB port and a USB-C port, on a cord long enough to reach the wall socket behind the bed, so the phone, the lamp and the reading light run off the table instead of off a power strip on the floor. The forms differ around that: a fluted wood front, a farmhouse frame with a wood drawer, an industrial three-tier open stand, and the fabric two-drawer stand that is the cheapest thing on the page.

Height is the figure to read against your mattress: a nightstand top should land level with the top of the mattress or a little above, and the stands here run 20 to 24 inches, printed on each card. The sets of two are the same stand twice at a lower price per piece, and the card prints both prices. The pull-out tray on the wood stand is for the glass of water, and the reviews that mention it mention that it holds a laptop.

A dresser, a bookshelf, a TV stand or a cabinet is the furniture that tips, and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission runs a whole campaign, Anchor It!, on that one point: anchor all furniture with drawers, doors and shelves, and every TV, to the wall. The commission's five steps take a few minutes with the kit, a drill and a stud finder: fix a bracket to the wall, push the piece back against it, fix a bracket to the piece, run the strap between them, and tighten until a tug moves nothing. Under the STURDY Act, a dresser 27 inches or taller made after 1 September 2023 must pass federal stability tests and ship with an anti-tip device, and our fabric dressers of that height do ship with one; the strap only works once it is on the wall. A drawer left open for a climbing child is how most of these accidents start, and the commission's words are that they happen in the blink of an eye.

How tall should a DUMOS nightstand be for your bed?
