A TV stand is named by the screen it carries, because that is the number you know. A 55 or 60-inch TV wants a console at least 50 inches wide, and the stands for that screen run 53; a 65 to 75-inch TV wants 58 and up, and those stands run 58 to 63. The stated width is on every card. Under the top, the entertainment centers add an LED strip and a power station with outlets for the console and the sound bar, the media consoles add fabric drawers for the remotes, and the bedroom stand adds five drawers.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission's campaign has one sentence about TVs and it is short: anchor the TV as well as the furniture. A stand with doors and drawers is on the commission's list of furniture to anchor, and a flat screen on top of it is the heaviest thing a child can pull. The straps go to a stud behind the stand, and the steps are on this page.

Before a TV stand goes against the wall

A dresser, a bookshelf, a TV stand or a cabinet is the furniture that tips, and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission runs a whole campaign, Anchor It!, on that one point: anchor all furniture with drawers, doors and shelves, and every TV, to the wall. The commission's five steps take a few minutes with the kit, a drill and a stud finder: fix a bracket to the wall, push the piece back against it, fix a bracket to the piece, run the strap between them, and tighten until a tug moves nothing. Under the STURDY Act, a dresser 27 inches or taller made after 1 September 2023 must pass federal stability tests and ship with an anti-tip device, and our fabric dressers of that height do ship with one; the strap only works once it is on the wall. A drawer left open for a climbing child is how most of these accidents start, and the commission's words are that they happen in the blink of an eye.

Every sentence in this note about safety comes from a named public source. All of them, with the date we read them, are on our updates page.

DUMOS TV Stand: questions

What people ask us about tv stand before they pick a piece.

Will a 65-inch TV fit on a DUMOS TV stand?

On the stands named for 65 inches and up, which run 58 to 63 inches wide, yes; on the 53-inch stand for 55 to 60-inch screens it overhangs. The TV's feet should land on the top, and the feet spacing of a 65-inch set is about 50 inches.

Does a DUMOS TV stand have a power outlet?

The LED entertainment centers and the media consoles with a power station do, with AC outlets and USB ports in the top; the plain stands and the bedroom stand with drawers do not. The card says which.
